Terms of Service

Availability

We aim to operate the service in a stable and secure manner, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, further development, or technical issues may temporarily restrict access.

No warranty for AI outputs

The responses and suggestions generated by the AI assistant may be incomplete, inaccurate, or incorrect and do not constitute professional advice, in particular not legal, tax, or financial advice. You are responsible for reviewing the outputs before relying on them. By default the assistant changes your data only after your confirmation. You can turn this confirmation off per data type in the settings; permanent deletions always ask. You are responsible for the actions you confirm or for which you have turned confirmation off.

AI memory

You can give the assistant memories that it takes into account in later conversations (at most 50 of 500 characters each). Memories are hints, not binding instructions; where a memory contradicts your data, your data prevails. You can change or delete memories at any time and revoke the assistant's access to them.

Availability and usage limits

The feature may be subject to technical limitations, such as usage or cost quotas, and may be changed, restricted, or discontinued at any time. Abusive or excessive automated use of the assistant is not permitted.

Your subscription includes a usage quota for the AI assistant (currently model costs of USD 1 per calendar month); we show the current quota and your usage in the settings. Once it is used up, the assistant pauses until the next month without any additional cost. In the future, we may offer AI usage beyond the included quota (e.g., additional quotas) as an optional, paid add-on. Such an add-on never incurs costs automatically: costs only arise if you expressly order the add-on; the price and scope are clearly displayed to you before ordering, and the order only becomes binding when you click a button that is clearly labeled as triggering a payment obligation.

Labeling of AI-generated content

The AI assistant's responses are presented in the application as contributions from the assistant and are therefore identifiable as AI-generated. Entries that the assistant creates or modifies on your instruction (e.g., time entries or appointments), by contrast, are stored like data you entered yourself and are not separately marked as AI-generated. If you reuse AI-generated content outside of Self-Engine, you are responsible yourself for any required labeling as AI-generated.

Registration

Certain features require a user account. You are required to provide accurate information during registration and keep it up to date if it changes.

Credentials

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities carried out through your account. If you suspect unauthorized use, please notify us without undue delay.

Minimum age

Use of self-engine is permitted only for persons aged 18 or over. You confirm this when signing up by clicking “Agree” in the consent dialog.

Conclusion of contract and contract text

The presentation of the subscriptions in the application is not yet a binding offer. During ordering you choose the plan, enter your payment details with the payment service provider and can review and correct all details before submitting. By clicking the “Subscribe and pay” button you submit a binding offer; the contract is concluded when we activate your subscription.

The contract languages are German and English. Without undue delay after conclusion of the contract, and at the latest before the service begins, we send you a contract confirmation by email with these Terms of Service, the withdrawal instructions and the model withdrawal form (§ 312f para. 2 BGB). We store the contract text; the current version is available on our website, and we send earlier versions on request.

Prices and Payment

The “Pro” subscription costs USD 9 per month and is billed monthly; we do not offer an annual subscription. Founding price: the first 100 paying customers who subscribe by 31 January 2027 receive the subscription for USD 5 per month for as long as their subscription continues without interruption.

Billing is in US dollars, in advance for each billing period. As a small business within the meaning of § 19 UStG (German VAT Act), we do not charge VAT; all stated prices are final prices. Your bank may charge currency conversion fees over which we have no control. Payment is processed by our payment service provider Stripe; subscription management is handled technically by our service provider Clerk.

No Trial Period

We do not offer a free trial. If you would like to try Self-Engine first, you can apply for tester access (section “Free Access for Friends and Testers”).

Term and Cancellation

The monthly subscription has a term of one month and renews automatically for one further month at a time unless cancelled.

You may cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period — in the account settings of the application or via the “Cancel contracts here” button on our website. Access to the paid features remains available until the end of the period already paid for.

Price Changes

Price changes apply to new subscriptions from the time they are announced. For existing subscriptions, price changes only take effect if you expressly consent to them. If you do not consent to a price change, your subscription continues at the previous price; in that case, we may terminate it with effect from the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

If you cancel with effect from the end of the billing period, fees already paid are not refunded on a pro-rata basis; your access remains available until the end of the paid period. If we terminate the service or your access early, and this is not based on a serious breach on your part, we will refund fees already paid for the period not provided on a pro-rata basis. Mandatory statutory rights, in particular the right of withdrawal and warranty rights for digital products, remain unaffected.

Scope and Costs

Free access generally includes the same range of features as the paid subscription. No payment method is required for activation. No costs arise; in particular, free access does not automatically convert into a paid subscription.

Beta testers

Beta participants receive free access for six months from redeeming the invite code; an invite code can be redeemed only once per account. After that, free access ends; it does not convert automatically into a paid subscription, and your content is not deleted. You can see the end date in the account settings; during the last 30 days before it ends we point this out there.

Termination and Conversion to a Subscription

Notwithstanding the "Termination" section, we may end free access at any time with 14 days' notice in text form (e.g., by email or by notice within the application), or make continued use conditional on taking out a paid subscription. In that case, a subscription is only concluded if you expressly take it out; the provisions of the "Paid Subscription" section then apply. If you do not take out a subscription, access to the service ends. Your content initially remains stored and becomes available to you again if you later take out a subscription; your right to delete your account at any time remains unaffected.

Availability and Support

As use is free of charge, there is no entitlement to any particular availability, to support, or to any particular range of features; individual features may change in the course of testing. In all other respects, the "Service Description" and "Liability and Warranty" sections apply. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.

Withdrawal Instructions

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Gwydion Braunsdorf, Schwangauer Str. 3, 87645 Schwangau, Germany, email: kontakt@self-engine.com) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of an unambiguous statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but this is not mandatory.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient that you send your notification of exercising the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period expires.

Withdrawal button

During the withdrawal period you can also declare your withdrawal via the “Withdraw from contract” button. You find it in the account settings and on the subscription page of the web application and in the footer of our website; it leads to our withdrawal page, which also works without signing in. There you enter your name, the contract and the email address for the confirmation of receipt, and confirm with “Confirm withdrawal”. You do not need to give a reason. We confirm receipt without undue delay by email, stating the content of your declaration and the date and time of receipt.

Consequences of Withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will refund all payments we have received from you without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we receive notification of your withdrawal from this contract. For this refund, we will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise with you; in no case will you be charged any fees for this refund.

If you requested that the service begin during the withdrawal period, you must pay us a reasonable amount corresponding to the proportion of the services already provided up to the time you inform us of the exercise of the right of withdrawal with regard to this contract, compared to the total scope of the services provided for in the contract.

Ownership of content

You retain the rights to the content and data you enter into or create within Self-Engine. To the extent technically necessary, you grant us the rights required to provide the service, store data, synchronize it, and deliver it to your devices.

Privacy

How we process personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. You acknowledge it; it is not part of these Terms of Service.

Liability and Warranty

We are liable without limitation in cases of intent, gross negligence, and for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health. In the event of slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations, our liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. In all other respects, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Mandatory statutory claims, in particular under consumer law and rules governing digital products, remain unaffected.

Apple App Store:

These Terms of Service are between you and us, not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent permitted by law, Apple is not responsible for product liability or compliance claims relating to the app; if the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price. Other warranty claims against Apple are excluded to the extent permitted by law. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms; by accepting them you acknowledge that Apple may enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary. The Apple Media Services Terms and — where applicable — Apple's standard end user license agreement (EULA) apply to the app.

Google Play:

If you obtain the app via Google Play, Google LLC is not a party to these Terms of Service. Google's Play Terms of Service and Google's privacy policy for store operations also apply.

Account deletion and subscription

If you delete your account in the web or mobile app account settings, we immediately terminate all running subscriptions except the free base plan (immediate end) before deletion. If that termination fails, account deletion is aborted and your account remains. No refunds are granted; any remaining paid period ends with the immediate termination. Ordinary cancellation at the end of the billing period (section "Paid Subscription") is unaffected. Your statutory right of withdrawal (section "Right of Withdrawal for Consumers") remains unaffected. Deleting your account is also possible without a subscription (via the subscription page of the web application).

Changes to the Terms

We may amend these Terms of Service only where there is a valid legal, technical, or operational reason and the contractual balance is not shifted to your detriment. We will provide clear and timely notice of material changes before they take effect. Where required by law, we will also inform you about any right to object or terminate. For existing contracts, changes only take effect if you agree to them; we ask you in the application.
